1. Chancellor John Healey has announced a £100 million fund for mayors to launch a new Local Apprenticeship Service during his speech at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.

3. Outlining his economic vision for a new age of industrialisation, Mr Healey revealed that Rolls-Royce is investing £300 million into factories across Derby, Bristol, Glasgow and Rotherham.
