Apple has started adding a “Made for iPhone Duo” badge to apps on the App Store, making it easier for owners of its first foldable iPhone to spot which apps have been optimised for it. The badge comes as the iPhone Duo officially goes on sale today, with early buyers receiving their pre-orders around the world.
Since the iPhone Duo is Apple’s very first foldable, the number of apps that fully support it is still fairly small for now. Among the first to carry the badge are streaming apps such as Apple TV, Prime Video, Netflix and iQIYI, along with Instagram and its video editing app Edits. Taobao is also on the list, as are games like Asphalt Legends and Zenless Zone Zero.

Unlike iPad apps, apps built for the iPhone Duo need to work across both its 5.4-inch outer display and 7.6-inch inner display, and switch between the two as you open and close the phone. Some apps also adapt to different positions, such as Prime Video, which plays content on the top half of the screen and shows cast details on the bottom half when the phone is partially folded.
It’s a similar approach to what Google did with Android 12L, which was introduced to help apps make better use of the larger screens on the first wave of Android foldables. For those eyeing one, the iPhone Duo is priced from RM9,499 for the 256GB model in Malaysia, going up to RM15,499 for the 2TB version.
