A Chinese tourist is questioning the ethics of Malaysian bus drivers after one of them was allegedly spotted playing a mobile game while driving a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth, Penang.
Malaysian newscaster, Tan Chia Yong, took to his Facebook page to showcase a video shared with him by a netizen, whose friend from China had been on the bus and had taken the video that showed the bus driver playing a mobile game while driving.
He wrote, “A viewer sent me a video that a Chinese friend of theirs had taken on a long-distance bus from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth, Penang, at around 6pm on June 22 (Sunday). The bus driver in the video was actually playing mobile games while driving!”
“‘Are all Malaysian drivers like this?‘, they asked. I gasped when I saw this. Of course not! This is a black sheep and he must he found! Driving a bus like this is really horrible.”
Install cameras
Many called for action to be taken against the driver in the video, as well as precautions to be set in place to prevent other drivers from doing the same thing.
“The bus company should install a camera in front and behind the driver’s seat to ensure that all bus drivers are driving safely. This issue is mentioned almost every year but it seems to be constantly reoccurring.”
“Can we invent a device that will prevent drivers’ phones from connecting to the internet when they sit in the driver’s seat?”
