Looking at the way political parties are pouring money into the campaigns for GE15 we cannot but speculate as to where they are getting the resources to fund the election.

Some say it's from foreign sources while others say it's from local philanthropists who would like to see a change in government of the day and get the kleptocrats out of power.

That drew our attention to what happened in GE14 when opposition parties allegedly received funding from foreign sources.

Anyway, there is an old video that has gone viral yet again, claiming that the US was behind an attempted regime change in Malaysia during GE14 that brought about Pakatan Harapan's victory in 2018.

This is no longer just a rumour or political speculation. It is a known fact that has been confirmed by Daniel Twining from International Republican Institute (IRI) who admitted that the US government was behind that attempt which succeeded in bringing about a regime change with the downfall of the ruling party, Barisan Nasional in 2018. Twining admitted that the US has been working with National Endowment for Democracy (NED) for over 21 years since 2001 to achieve their objective of strengthening the opposition in Malaysia.

Other organisations Twining worked with in Malaysia are Lawyers for Democracy, MalaysiaKini and the Bersih movement. (Head of US think tank reveals “long game” with Malaysian opposition parties)

Apparently, the whole purpose of bringing down the BN government then was to stop China.

Twining said the first step the newly elected government did in 2018 was to cancel all infrastructure projects with China. That Twining claimed was a positive result of this particular regime change.

It goes to show that the US does interfere in the internal affairs of other states to attain their own objectives.

Fast forward to 2022 and we are in the throes of an election yet again. The US and China are at loggerheads. China's presence in Malaysia is growing rapidly once more.

A few of the infrastructure projects that were cancelled by the previous governments had been restarted with some modifications. Would it be wrong to say that the US would allow these to continue and let Malaysia falls under China's influence again?

Or would it choose to put a stop once and for all by throwing all its resources to support a resurgent opposition headed by Anwar Ibrahim under Pakatan Harapan?

The US desperately needs support from ASEAN as it is facing challenges from China.

Singapore is already pro American and so are the Philippines under young Marcos. Taiwan is undoubtedly under US influence politically and otherwise. So is Thailand, Myanmar seen as weak and may be easily influenced by the US.

All these are attempts at encircling China from Myanmar to Taiwan.

It would be hard not to believe that major opposition parties in Malaysia are not getting support from the US during GE15.

This GE15 is the most appropriate time for the US State Department to make a move in helping to strengthen Malaysia's opposition and achieve that regime change that has eluded them for the last 60 years.

They could also help install a new Prime Minister who has been waiting in the wings for 24 years and would be more inclined towards backing an US foreign policy that is anti China.

Maybe Twining and IRI are already back in Malaysia to continue what they started but was stifled by Perikatan Nasional after the fall of Pakatan Harapan.

They might have more resources this time to help the opposition and bury the corrupted incumbent for good.

That is probably why it seems that the political parties are spending like there's no tomorrow.

But then again I may be wrong.
