Have you ever wondered why you behave a certain way? How you react to a certain situation, or how you basically just exist the way you want to? The way you rationale things, make decisions and decipher perceptions? Yes people, it's all the fault in your birthdates...literally! In astrology, a sign of the zodiac refers to one of 12 specific constellations of the zodiac that the sun passes through. A person's particular sign of the zodiac is the one that the sun was in when they were born. It is a belief in astrology that a person's personality can be predicted using their sign of the zodiac. The 12 zodiac signs in order are: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. They are grouped to 4 different elements - Air, Earth, Fire & Wind, each with their unique characteristics and traits.
Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Air signs are mental, cerebral and communicative. They get along very well with those from the Fire element.
Geminis have two sides to their personalities, are intellectual and look at situations from a different perspective than most people do, since they're mutable signs and are able to heavily adapt to situations.
Libras are known as the scales. They're charming, social and diplomatic. Libras value peace and balance above all, which means they are usually the type to give way to others to keep that peace.
Aquarians are intellectual, independent and contemplative, often deeply focused on their beliefs and ideas. Their hunger for knowledge persists in order to better establish their firm perception on how the universe and society operate around them.
Earth ( Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Earth signs are physical, tangible and sensual. Along with water signs, earth signs exude a feminine yin energy. "They can get cast as uptight or slow, but that's not necessarily true," the twins add. They simply like to have a solid foundation and are the steadiest and most grounded bunch of signs.
Having the bull as their symbol, Tauruses value security and stability above all. This often leads them to be excellent with money and attract it to them like a magnet once they focus their skills and talents. However, Tauruses are very resistant to change, which can make them very stubborn to alter their points of view. Ultimately, though, they are warm and gentle and extremely dependable people.
Virgos are practical, intelligent and analytical. They are natural-born organizers and value consistency, loyalty and productivity. They invest very much of themselves into their goals and plans but can become very critical if things do not develop as they had originally expected. This perfectionism is something that can grow into an obsession, which can be wrongly perceived as an OCD in the long term. Ultimately, Virgos are kind, grounded and trustworthy people.
Capricorns are ambitious, reserved and patient. Because of their own sense of practicality, they may actually be less emotional than others, unwilling to be distracted by feelings when it is easier to face facts. These folks take themselves seriously, but you can be sure they'll do everything in their power to work hard.
Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Fire energy is dynamic, active and restless. Fire is also a "yang" element, along with air, which is a masculine energy. People in these element are impulsive, passionate, and potentially temperamental.
Bold, pioneering and courageous, Aries is the leader of the zodiac. They tend to be ambitious, active and honest, eager to open themselves up to every one of life’s possibilities besides being independent and enjoy sharing their fiery personalities with the world.
Creative, enthusiastic and dramatic, Leos often like to be recognized for everything they bring to the world, sometimes to the point of pride or arrogance. They are extremely loyal, romantic and artistic, called to express the fire inside of them vividly, since they're represented by a lion. With very big hearts, they can also be quite generous to those who they deem worthy of their affections.
Adventurous, spontaneous and optimistic, Sagittarius are represented by the archer and are always on a quest for knowledge. They tend to seek new ideas, relationships and experiences that will teach them more about themselves and the world. With such an impulsive and restless nature however, they may find that it is hard to focus on one thing or that they fear commitment or responsibility.
Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Emotional and attached, water signs can be super sensitive, and a bit mysterious. They're very deep and intuitive people and are known for being the psychics of the signs. They are also very home and family-oriented. They jive along well with the earth signs.
Cancers are sensitive, emotional and receptive, They also tend to be especially nurturing, valuing family greatly. Building a stable and safe home is important, as they need a great deal of time to recharge their batteries. Cancers are also known to be especially moody and temperamental, though, as they are heavily impacted by the people, energy and situations that surround them.
Intense, passionate and cunning, Scorpios have a natural ability to enchant others, utilizing their powerful minds and auras to dominate situations and relationships. Deeply emotional, they can brood in the extremes of their feelings. Tending to be very fixed in their ways, they're unrelenting until they get what they want.
Pisces is the most intuitive, sensitive, and empathetic sign of the entire zodiac — and that’s because it’s the last of the last. They are especially compassionate and sensitive, often putting the needs of others before themselves. Being excellent friends, they enjoy a vivid social life filled with many unique people. Highly empathic, they can tune into energy that most other people ignore.
Where Do You Fit In?
As much as some may argue that the characteristics of each zodiac sign are not a true reflection of what we carry physically, emotionally and mentally, the opposite may be true.
Think about it...if you actually reflect back on your conversations with a certain person or how they react, what their core humanistic values are and how they carry themselves in general - topics of discussions, arguments, how they performed in school and their basic temperament - IT ALL MAKES SENSE!
Speaking from a Virgo's angle(that's what I am), I am highly practical, organized, analytical and I value consistency & results over anything else. I need things to be arranged a certain way, be it an Excel sheet/how I get my thought process in order or even the way I organize my kitchen cutleries. As much as this may be an obsession, that is just how I function. The more I read about my zodiac sign, the more it gives me validation that there's absolutely nothing odd or abnormal about my habits and that this is what my zodiac spectrum is all about.
As I also have friends from various zodiac signs, I tend to get along the best with Water signs - Scorpios being the best and this is highly true as Earth and Water signs bond well. The more I meet different people, the more it gives me an angle of what this person's zodiac sign may be, simply based on their personality, from what they do on a day to day basis, basic habits and even mood. Lately, I've found myself getting well with two people from the Fire element, which was not the most normal thing in the past.
Think about it...if we truly understand why humans behave a certain way when we're well educated on zodiac signs, this is a huge blessing in deciphering emotions and personalities. It saves us the time from getting ourselves hurt in the process or even wanting to have an explanation as to why a person has shown a certain behavior towards us.
So guys and girls, the next time you feel like you're losing it towards someone or before you even approach them for a chat, do your due diligence to find out what zodiac this person is and then rationalize accordingly. You will then realize that we're all differently created, curated and that the universe has different plans for all of us. Once in a while, do reflect on why you are the way you are. This habit goes a long way.
Yes, our birthdate does matter after all ;)
