
Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, visited Western Command Headquarters in Chandimandir and reviewed its operational preparedness, combat readiness, capability development and nation-building initiatives at the western theatre.
Addressing officers of the Command and its formations through a hybrid interaction, the Army Chief underscored the importance of harnessing emerging technologies, fostering innovation and building data-centric capabilities to enhance operational agility and readiness for future challenges, the Western Command said on Thursday.
He also felicitated selected personnel in recognition of their exemplary service, professionalism and devotion to duty. Commending all ranks for their dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to operational excellence, he exhorted them to remain focused on capability enhancement, innovation and mission success.
The Army Chief, who is scheduled to hang up his boots on July 31 on reaching the age of superannuation, arrived at Chandimandir after visiting the Northern Command Headquarters in Udhampur.
There he was briefed on the conduct of multi-domain operations, technology absorption, infrastructure development and integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of operations in the northern sector.
General Dwivedi also interacted with veterans and acknowledged their continued contributions towards nation-building. He lauded their enduring spirit of service and commitment to the welfare of society, noting that their exemplary efforts continued to inspire future generations.
Several veterans were felicitated for their contributions towards the welfare of ex-servicemen, community service and nation-building. These included Brig RS Grewal (retd), Col Chander Prakash Vij (retd), Col Jasdeep Sandhu (retd), Sub Maj Ranjodh Singh (retd), Capt Parminder Singh (retd) and Sgt Sanjeev Kumar Goel (retd).
They have contributed to the welfare of ex-servicemen and local communities through dedicated social service, youth mentorship, veteran rehabilitation, strengthening disaster response, promoting sports excellence, educational initiatives, healthcare awareness, heritage conservation and civil-military cooperation.
