Army Chief General Datuk Azhan Md Othman calls for calm and unity as MAF investigates viral claims about unauthorised camp entry and activities

KUALA LUMPUR: Army Chief General Datuk Azhan Md Othman has called on all personnel to maintain professionalism and unity following viral allegations concerning a military camp.

The allegations involve the entry of unauthorised individuals and alleged immoral activities at one of its facilities.

Azhan stressed the matter was being taken seriously and expressed confidence it could be managed effectively.

“All Army personnel are urged to remain calm and continue upholding discipline and the values of professionalism,” he said.

He added that troops must remain united to ensure the country’s security is always safeguarded.

Azhan made the remarks after attending the 31st Army Chief’s Main Guard of Honour Ceremony at Dataran Wisma Pertahanan.

The Malaysian Armed Forces has been instructed to carry out an internal investigation into the allegations.

The probe aims to safeguard the integrity, discipline and security of the force at all times.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin earlier officiated the 31st Army Chief Rank-Wearing Ceremony.

Azhan was appointed as the 31st Chief of Army, effective January 1.

His appointment followed the decision of the 631st Armed Forces Council Meeting on November 19.

It was made with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on December 1.
