Under Operation Sadbhavana, the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps of the Army distributed 325 home solar light kits and installed 66 solar street lights in the remote Trans Singela region of Ladakh, bringing sustainable energy solutions to far-flung communities, officials said on Saturday.
According to an Army statement, the initiative was undertaken following a request by Chering Dorjay Lakrook, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), and the event was attended by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Fire and Fury Corps.
More than 300 beneficiaries attended the programme and expressed gratitude to the Army for its continued support and outreach efforts in the remote region.
Lakrook thanked the Army for its unwavering commitment towards the welfare and development of Ladakh and acknowledged its sustained efforts in improving the quality of life in remote areas.
“Living up to its motto, the Army continues to illuminate lives and strengthen its enduring bond with the resilient people of Ladakh,” the statement said.
