MANILA, Philippines — An active member of the Philippine Army and three others were arrested for alleged robbery of a grocery store in Trece Martires, Cavite on Thursday (Sep. 24), the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday.
“Yes yun ang tinitingnan natin,” Col. Allen Rae Co, PNP spokesman said in a press briefing at Camp Crame when asked of the identities of the suspects, especially the alleged former military.
“Kakahuli natin kaninang umaga so we are still conducting an investigation as well yung ating pong tactical interrogation sa kanila to find out. They admitted actually to the Dali incident at nagastos na nga nila ang pera so we were able to recover mga barya na lang,” Co said.
The suspects were identified as Cpl. Michael Jude Villanueva Iglufas, assigned to the Philippine Army’s 9th Infantry Division; Christian Magsumbol Delacion; Michael Angelo Alvaro Catindig; and Alberto Bautista.
Police said the four were arrested at around 3:40 a.m. at Zoe’s Hotel in Barangay 8, Catanauan, Quezon, following intelligence reports.
The operation involved personnel from Police Regional Office 4A, Catanauan and Mulanay municipal police stations, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, and the 3rd and 4th Provincial Mobile Force Companies.

Recovered from them were an M16 rifle, two.45-caliber pistols, a.30-caliber revolver, assorted magazines and ammunition, two rifle grenades, two M203 grenade rounds, and a Nissan Terrano allegedly used as a getaway vehicle.
Co said charges for violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9516 on illegal possession of explosives are being prepared against the suspects.
