PETALING JAYA: An army tank broke down along busy Jalan Damansara this morning, obstructing traffic for about an hour.

The Kuala Lumpur Command & Control Centre’s (KLCCC) Facebook page posted a screenshot from CCTV footage of the incident with a timestamp of 10.27am, showing the tank blocking the middle lane of the road heading from Carcosa Seri Negara to KL Sentral.

KLCCC, which provides updates on the city’s traffic, posted another screenshot with a timestamp of 10.49am showing three men believed to be army personnel at the scene, with police directing traffic several metres behind.

“Ranger 01, 02, 05 and 06 have arrived at the location,” the caption read.

KLCCC then posted another update to state that the tank had been towed to a safe location at 11.21am.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said another tank was despatched by the army to tow the tank about an hour later.

FMT has also reached out to the defence ministry for comment.

Many Facebook users made fun of the incident, posting humorous comments.

“Just find the nearest scrap metal shop…,” said user Pasu Pathy.

“This shows our country is at peace,” said another netizen, Chong Kim Teck. “Hardly used so the engine jam (sic).”
