Barisan Nasional secured a landslide victory in the Johor state election yesterday, winning 48 of the state’s 56 seats while Pakatan Harapan won the remaining eight.
Following the result, a post on former prime minister Najib Razak’s official Facebook page appeared to poke fun at one of PH’s main campaign narratives.

“Will Najib be freed today?”
In the Facebook post published on Sunday, July 12, Najib questioned whether he would now be released following BN’s major victory.
“I don’t think PH would lie to the people of Johor.
“They said that if BN won big in Johor, Najib would be freed.
“So, will Najib be freed today? Around what time?” the post read.
The remarks appeared to be a sarcastic response to the “Vote BN, Najib goes free” narrative raised by PH during the Johor election campaign.
Najib’s release became a campaign issue
According to an analysis by Sinar Harian, PH had claimed that a major BN victory could be used to create political pressure for Najib’s release.
The issue gained attention after Najib’s son, Nazifuddin Najib, reportedly said that a major BN victory in Johor would signal that the public wanted his father to receive a pardon.
Nazifuddin’s remarks were reported by Free Malaysia Today.
However, BN leaders rejected claims that the state election result could directly lead to Najib’s release.
Umno information chief Azalina Othman Said said there was no law stating that an election could be used to free someone who was serving a prison sentence.
She added that the power to grant pardons lies with the Yang di Pertuan Agong, as reported by Malay Mail.
For now, BN’s landslide win does not automatically mean Najib gets to walk free.
Any release would still depend on the proper legal and pardon process.
So, to answer his question about what time he will be freed today, there is no confirmed timing just yet.
