Arrest made in 1986 cold case after advanced DNA testing

  • Bobby Charles Taylor Sr., 60, has been charged with capital murder in the 1986 rape and killing of 16-year-old Deanna Ogg in Montgomery County, Texas.
  • Ogg disappeared on 27 September 1986, while walking to a convenience store, and her body was later found sexually assaulted, beaten, and stabbed.
  • The arrest in the decades-old cold case came through advanced forensic genetic genealogy testing, which identified Taylor as a suspect in 2024.
  • Another man, Roy Criner, was wrongly convicted in 1990 and spent 10 years in prison before being exonerated by DNA evidence in 2000.
  • Taylor was apprehended in Mexico on 24 April 2026, extradited to Texas.
