Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faced the press as his side prepares for the FA Community Shield.

The Gunners are set to take on last season's treble winners Manchester City in the showpiece event at the start of the new season.

Given City won the FA Cup and the Premier League, Arsenal earned their spot in the game by finishing second in the league.

Asked about striker Gabriel Jesus, Arteta told reporters: "He's fine. He's obviously disappointed because he was feeling good and then this issue came up that nobody expected.

"We had to do a little procedure there but unfortunately it was the best thing to do and the quicker the better. We made that decision. I'm sure he will be back soon and very fit."

He then added on Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard competing for a starting spot: Yeah, but I don't think I'm here to fill in for anyone. I'm here to play and contribute to the team obviously, I believe in my abilities and I know I can contribute.

The manager has got a tough decision and whenever he calls me, he knows I can deliver and I can help the team, so it's just about us all collectively playing our part to achieve our goals."
