Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he's been pleased by the players response to their Champions League defeat to Porto.

The Gunners meet Newcastle this weekend.

Arteta said: "What I see is a team that can't wait to play Porto at home now. With that result obviously we have created a fantastic Champions League night of football under the lights where we need to beat them to go through. The task is very clear now.

"We discussed it. Porto is gone, the things that we did very well, the things that we have to improve. It tells you about the fine margins in the Champions League. We have a huge chance with Gabi in the 91st min. If he scores that we're 1-0 up and everyone says what a fantastic, mature disciplined performance in the Champions League it was. When you lose it in the last second it's something else. That's clear. We cannot lose sight of what we're doing and the importance of the match tomorrow. The full energy and focus is there.

"We want to create that atmosphere in the stadium from the beginning. I ask everybody to go there tomorrow night with full energy because the team will be there. We are in a really good moment in the Premier League and we want to be there."
