Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was pleased with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli for victory over Nottingham Forest.
Saka struck in the first-half for the 2-1 win.
Arteta said: "What I ask from all the players is to be the best version of themselves. That's all they can do. How good that version is is very hard to tell on any player because we don't know the Bukayo of two years ago or in two years' time how he will be. The same applies to the rest. They are so eager to do that every single day. When that happens they will for sure be better, they will compete better and they will understand the game better to make better decisions."
On Martinelli, he said: "That's Gabi. He needs to be alive, he needs to be energetic and go for it. And then something I saw today that I really liked and I didn't like so much when we played Monaco two weeks ago is that when he gave the ball away how he tracked back.
"This is the defining moment because when Gabi's doing that backwards then forwards he's one of the best players and one of the most dangerous. When plays a different rhythm, no."
