Arsenal are said to be cautiously optimistic that Mohamed Elneny is not out for an extended period.

The Egyptian central midfielder is another injury casualty for manager Mikel Arteta early in the season.

The 30-year-old has a hamstring issue that he suffered in the 2-1 win against Fulham.

He will be out for their game against Aston Villa in midweek, while he may even miss the weekend clash at Manchester United.

However, The Sun states that the club's medical staff believe his absence will only be a few weeks.

There were initial fears that he could be out for months, which would have led Arsenal to signing a midfielder before the transfer window closes this week.
