Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu left Emirates stadium last night on crutches.
Arsenal's time in the Europa League came to a bitter end on Thursday as they suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
But Mikel Arteta had already been dealt a huge blow earlier in the evening.
Japan star Tomiyasu was forced off injured after just nine minutes. He appeared to be in agony after overstretching for a tackle.
Tomiyasu kept his right foot off the floor as he hobbled out of the stadium.
