Arsenal hero Alan Smith admits Manchester City beating Southampton yesterday puts pressure on the Prem leaders.
The Gunners are at Liverpool today.
Smith told Sky Sports: "It is [extra pressure when City play first].
"The Arsenal lads probably would have been watching this today, they'd have watched the Liverpool performance last week when they were awesome, weren't they, City. So they know what they're up against.
"Yes of course they've got their noses in front at the moment but it's obvious they can't afford to slip up. So that brings with it pressure going into the game at Anfield.
"Last season it all became a little too much, this season I think they're much better equipped. Obviously, they've got the likes of [Gabriel] Jesus and [Oleksandr] Zinchenko in there with that winning mentality, they are all that one year more experienced.
"So they'll go into that game up at Liverpool feeling confident I think, why shouldn't they? Not just on a par with Liverpool but feeling they're superior this season.
"So confidence shouldn't be dented one little bit and if they can get a win tomorrow, I'd fancy them to go all the way and actually win the title. But that's a big if at the moment, that's a difficult game despite Liverpool's troubles."
