Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has clarified remarks he made about midfielder Thomas Partey.
The Gunners head coach said that he was pleased for Partey to play so well and score against Tottenham in the Premier League over the weekend.
He referenced that Partey had been through a lot recently, which some interpreted as involving the player's personal life.
However, Arteta told reporters during a press conference: “Well obviously that he hasn't had the consistency in the past few months, with the injuries that he's been through.
“He's been in and out. With a big performance like that he contributed to the team in an exceptional way and we're really happy with his performance."
