Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has explained leaving Chelsea on deadline day last month.

Jorginho admits the presence of manager Mikel Arteta was a key a influence on his decision.

"That is one of the reasons, definitely," he told DAZN. "He called me and it was very quick, we did the deal in less than 48 hours. I had spoken to Chelsea and I knew I was no longer part of their plans.

"I wanted to move on in my career and the Arsenal project suits me.

"It is a young team that plays good football and that suits my qualities. I considered every scenario and made the decision. Sometimes you have to accept when you stand outside a project and that things come to an end."

Jorginho's contract with Arsenal runs to 2024 with an option for another year.
