Per The Athletic, the youngster has turned down the recent offer of a new contract.
Now the 19-year-old, who can play right-back and cenre-back, wants to find a team where he can play regularly.
He will be moving on as a free agent after playing 80 times for the club's under-18s and under-21s.
Walters will have a lot of offers from clubs in the Premier League and Championship.
