Andrey Arshavin and Russian football have been stunned by his treatment from former club Arsenal.
The Gunners had posted a message and video clip to social media celebrating Arshavin's 42nd birthday on Monday.
But with the war ongoing, a backlash from Ukraine fans saw the post quickly deleted. Arshavin and his fans in Russia have been left stunned by Arsenal's decision.
Former Russia international Arshavin scored 31 goals in 144 Arsenal appearances between 2008 and 2013. He famously scored four goals against Liverpool in a 4-4 draw in 2009.
