After its focus on West Bengal, the BJP is now turning its attention to Punjab ahead of the next electoral cycle.
A series of high-profile visits led by BJP president Nitin Nabin in June is expected to set the tone for the party’s campaign in the state.
Nabin is scheduled to visit Amritsar on June 21 to mark International Yoga Day. Sources said he is expected to stay in Punjab from June 20 to 22.
He is also likely to participate in a yoga session with personnel of the Border Security Force along the International Border.
Ahead of Nabin’s visit, Union ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Arjun Ram Meghwal are also expected to visit the state. A visit by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda is reportedly being planned as well.
Speaking to The Tribune, Nabin said the party considers Punjab a priority state and intends to build a broad-based alliance in the border state.
“We have much to do in Punjab,” he said, adding that he would likely participate in yoga activities along the International Border in Punjab this year.
