PENAMPANG: Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi) Sabah Liaison Chairman Richard Jimmy has lodged a police report calling for an investigation into the recently approved National Registration (Amendment) Bill 2025, citing concerns over possible abuse of the new biometric MyKad system.
He said the amendments must align with the Federal Constitution and be implemented transparently to prevent manipulation or corruption.
“We are not against modernization, but the process must be clean and accountable,” he said after lodging the report at Penampang Police Station on Monday.
Richard urged police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to probe the matter under the MACC Act 2009, naming the National Registration Department, Immigration, police, and Health Ministry among agencies that should be scrutinized.
He warned that unchecked implementation could lead to falsification of documents and manipulation of citizenship data, particularly in Sabah, where he said population anomalies and alleged illegal identity card issuance have long raised concerns.
“This is not merely an immigration issue, it’s about Sabah’s sovereignty and identity,” he stressed, urging the Home Affairs Ministry and judiciary to ensure transparency in the new registration system.
