
The Mehatpur Police have registered a criminal case against two named accused along with eight to nine unidentified persons in connection with an alleged assault, intimidation and unlawful assembly incident reported in the area. The case has been registered under Sections 126(2), 351, 191(3), 190 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further investigation is currently underway.
According to police sources, the complaint was lodged by Jagtar Singh, who approached the police alleging that he was assaulted and threatened by the accused persons. Acting on the statement of the complainant, the police formally registered the FIR and initiated preliminary investigation proceedings.
The named accused in the case have been identified as Sunny, resident of Mohalla Shahpur, Mehatpur and Chandni, resident of Mohalla Baghiyarpura. Another accused identified as Beeri, resident of Purewal Colony near Balmiki Mandir, Shankar area, has also been nominated in the case. Besides them, eight to nine unidentified individuals have also been booked for their alleged involvement in the incident.
As per the information gathered during the initial inquiry, the incident occurred on May 10, 2026, when the accused persons allegedly assaulted the complainant and issued threats, creating panic and disturbance in the locality. Police officials stated that the matter is being investigated from all angles and efforts are underway to identify the unidentified accused involved in the episode.
During the investigation, the police also took possession of a Splendor motorcycle bearing registration number PB-29-L-2397, which is believed to be connected with the incident. The vehicle has been seized for further examination and evidentiary purposes.
Police authorities stated that statements of witnesses are being recorded and CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being examined to establish the sequence of events and identify all individuals involved. Officials added that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty in the case.
