Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed a bill to strengthen the State Government’s power to impose fees and charges which aims to generate revenue for the State Government.

Deputy Speaker Datuk Richard Yong passed the bill – Fees (Amendment) Enactment 2023) – tabled by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir.

The amendment expands the power of the State Government to impose fees and charges on matters that are not only limited to List 2 but also include jurisdiction in other lists provided under the Federal Constitution, which aims to generate revenue for the State Government.
