SANDAKAN: A 25-year-old assistant accountant was jailed six years and given one stroke of the cane for each of eight counts of criminal breach of trust involving RM1.2 million.
Chia Ka Rong pleaded guilty to transferring company funds into his personal account and creating false invoices between June and October 2025.
Judge Roslinda Razali ordered the jail term to run concurrently from his arrest date.
The court heard the victim company suffered RM1.2 million in losses.
Chia, who was unrepresented, asked for leniency, saying he is an only child supporting his parents. He was arrested on Feb 3 after his employer lodged a police report.
