Kota Kinabalu: An assistant officer of a department in Sabah has been arrested for allegedly abusing his position.
The suspect had allegedly abused his position by appointing his brother’s company in the food supply service for a programme in his department.
The incident occurred sometime in March to October 2019 involving almost RM43,000.
The suspect, in his late 40s, was arrested at the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office, here, about 10am Monday when he came to the office to give his statement.
Sabah MACC Director Datuk S. Karunanithy, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009. He added that the suspect would be charged in the Special Corruption Court soon.
