Aston Villa boss Unai Emery says they'll only buy in January if the player in question lifts the quality of his squad.
Emery, however, says departures could happen this month.
He said: In turn, if we try to acquire new players, then it will be only those who can definitely strengthen our squad.
"But at the moment it is not clear whether we will be able to buy them in January."
After 20 rounds of the Premier League, Villa have 42 points and is in second place.
