Aston Villa boss Unai Emery was left delighted for Emi Martinez this week.
Argentina's World Cup winner was named the Lev Yashin Trophy winner as the Goalkeeper of the Year.
Emery said: "Martinez is a very competitive man. Since he arrived here in the Premier League 12 years ago, he has progressively improved a lot.
"His mentality is incredible, he always wants to improve. I was with him at Arsenal before and I always knew he wanted to achieve something big.
"Receiving this award is magnificent for him and we can be proud of him."
