Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard says Graham Potter deserves the Chelsea job.
Villa host Chelsea on Sunday.
Gerrard said, "I am not surprised where he is at. Sure, there was a queue as big as you want linked to this job, it's a fantastic club. The club is full of ambition, with good players. I don't know if Graham was linked with it, but I'm certainly not surprised on his journey.
"We played Brighton in a friendly when I was at Rangers, he's a good guy, very humble, a student of the game.
"Having said that I'm sure he'd say he's had to grow, learn and suffer a bit. I'm sure that's put him in a much better place to handle the Chelsea job."
