Aston Villa caretaker coach Aaron Danks has urged the players to focus on the job at hand.
After Steven Gerrard's sacking, Danks will take charge of Sunday's home game against Brentford and said there would not be time for emotion.
He said of Gerrard's firing: "Obviously my first thoughts are disappointment.
"I am really disappointed for the staff that have left and lost their jobs last night. Steven and his staff, I worked closely with them for a long time so my thoughts are with them.
"Things move really quickly and things have moved quickly through the night and we haven't got too much time to dwell on it or show much emotion, we have to move quickly to the task at hand and that's Brentford on Sunday."
