Aston Villa defender Ben Chrisene is delighted being part of a senior preseason.
Chrisene featured in victory over Walsall yesterday.
He said: “I did it (train with the first team) last year, so I know what to expect.
“I was definitely more nervous last year as it was a bit more daunting coming into the senior team.
“It's a great group of lads and they're very helpful towards the young players, especially the gaffer as well.
“He helps all the young lads settle in and feel part of this team."
Chrisene is being patient with his development and believing in the plan laid out for him.
He said: “It's definitely been gradual and it will still be gradual for the next couple of years because it's hard for young players transitioning [into the first team].
“The Under-23s and first team, people think it's only one step away but it's actually lots of little steps away because the quality and intensity is a lot different.
“I just need to keep going. I've got lots of people around me to help me."
