Aston Villa and Leeds United are chasing free agent Sonny Perkins.
The 18-year-old is available on a free transfer from West Ham United after rejecting a professional contract offer from the club. The Hammers will be entitled to compensation from the club who he opts to join this summer.
Villa were first linked with the forward last month, with reports claiming that the club had 'opened talks' with the teenager. Leeds were also said to be in the race for the player with both clubs keen to complete a transfer.
The Daily Mail reports the Whites 'hope to beat' Villa to the signing of the player this summer.
