ASUS today announced a new variant of Vivobook S14 & S16 laptops in Malaysia, with the model names S3407QA and S3607QA both denoting Snapdragon-powered hardware. Specifically, both models feature the lowest end Snapdragon X X1-26-100 with a modest 2.97GHz boost clock and 8 processing cores at disposal.

In the case of displays, both the 14-inch S3407QA model and the 16-inch S3607QA model comes with a FHD+ OLED panel with 60Hz refresh rate, 300 nits peak brightness and 95% DCI-P3 color gamut – pretty standard stuff. Since the 16-inch has a physically larger footprint, the touchpad is also 40% larger compared to the smaller model; the weight also differs, tipping the scale at 1.74kg and 1.35kg respectively.
The specs between two laptops from this point on are exactly identical: the Snapdragon X processors are paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X-8448 memory, along with a 1TB SSD as storage, while battery is a 70Wh unit that lasts a claimed 32 hours. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, two USB4 ports, two USB-A 5Gbps ports, HDMI 2.1 TMDS, and an audio combo jack.
The new Snapdragon-powered ASUS Vivobook S14 and S16 are now available in two colors, Cool Silver and Matte Gray, at the price of RM3,699 through all authorized resellers.
Pokdepinion: I kind of wished all three major variants of Vivobooks (S5, S3, and now the Snapdragons) get a more distinct naming to differentiate between each other, because it can get confusing really quick.
