Kuala Lumpur: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who became prime minister at age 75 last November, has assured Malaysians that he is fighting fit after turning 76 earlier this month.
In a pre-recorded interview with US broadcaster CNBC aired today, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said his doctors have given him a clean bill of health.
“Thank God and Alhamdulillah, I'm in perfect health. We just had the last few months complete, you know, but prime ministers need to do a check-up at the heart centre, a clean bill of health and great for 76,” he said.
“I'll pray for good health. But I think what's important is to focus on your work, save this country,” he added.

Anwar was discharged this morning after spending a night at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur here following a minor dental operation. Anwar’s health had reportedly deteriorated during his time in jail between April 1999 and 2018 suffering from spinal injury and assault.
He has previously been photographed wearing neck and body braces and at times, a wheelchair.
Since his release from prison in May 2018, and later becoming prime minister, there have been fewer reports of his health issues.
His stamina was on full display in headlining the PH-Barisan Nasional alliance’s campaign across the peninsula in the run-up to the six state elections earlier this month.
