The charity golf is organised by the Lions Club of Tuaran and an NGO.
The organising committee called on Hajiji on Tuesday and briefed him on the progress of the tournament.
Hajiji said he was impressed with the overwhelming response to the Charity Golf and hoped that corporations and government-linked companies (GLCs) would give their strong support as the tournament is to assist the various charities in and around Tuaran.
According to Co-organising Chairman, Janih Bangud, who is also Sabah Sports Board Deputy Chairman, the purpose of the event is to raise funds for several charitable organisations in Tuaran such as mosques, churches and temples as well as Tolumis Care Centre, Tuaran Care Centre for the Blind, home for orphans (Home Tuaran) and hostel for poor students (San Domiano Hostel Kiulu Tuaran), among others.
“So far, the response has been overwhelming with some 300 golfers already registered for the Charity Golf,” he said.
The tournament will be invited into three categories – VIP, Open and Senior.
According to Frankie Goh, President of Lions Club Tuaran, the club decided to jointly organise the tournament not only for the club charity activities, but also in supporting the Chief Minister who is known as a kind-hearted person.
