SYDNEY, Dec 19 — Australia’s prime minister announced a national gun buyback scheme today to get rid of high-powered firearms in the wake of the deadly Bondi Beach mass shooting.

“The terrible events at Bondi show we need to get more guns off our streets,” Anthony Albanese said. — AFP
