An Australian Army soldier has died during a parachuting training course, the Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said that the soldier had been undergoing training at the Jervis Bay Airfield on the New South Wales South Coast on Monday evening.

"One other Australian Army soldier was injured, and did not require hospitalisation," the ministry said, calling for the privacy of the soldiers' families to be respected.

In March 2024, the Australian Army temporarily suspended parachute training after a 33-year-old soldier died during training at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base in Richmond, about 50 kilometres north-west of Sydney, in what the armed forces described as a "tragic accident."
