Education Department officials inspect a private academy at Bhuna in Fatehabad on Monday.

The Education Department on Monday carried out a special inspection drive against alleged unauthorised tuition academies and playschools operating in Fatehabad district. A team led by Block Education Officer Nirmala Sihag inspected several tuition centres and playschools in different parts of Bhuna town. During the drive, notices were issued to two institutions for allegedly violating departmental rules.

Sihag said the department had been receiving complaints for a long time regarding tuition academies and playschools operating without proper permission and in violation of norms. Acting on these complaints, the department launched the inspection campaign on Monday.

During the inspection, officials found that some tuition academies did not have students present at the time of the visit, but school bags and other study material belonging to students were found on the premises, indicating that regular classes were being conducted there.

The team also checked departmental records and permission-related documents and found several irregularities during the verification process, Sihag added.

The Block Education Officer said strict action would be taken against institutions failing to comply with Education Department rules. Notices have been issued to two tuition academies, seeking replies within a week. She warned that departmental action would follow if satisfactory responses were not submitted within the stipulated time.

Sihag said violations in the name of education would not be tolerated under any circumstances and added that the department’s aim was to ensure a safe and standard academic environment for children. She said such inspection drives would continue in the future as well.

The inspection team included Satish Kumar, Principal of Jandli Kalan School; Ishwar Singh; Renu Kadian; Professor Satish Kumar; and Professor Sanjay Kumar. The team also instructed institution operators to maintain all required documents and properly follow departmental guidelines.
