KINABATANGAN: The Wildlife Department conducted a crocodile monitoring operation in the flood-hit area of Pangkalan Bukit Garam on Friday.

The operation involved police, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), and the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

A resident had earlier reported spotting a large crocodile basking on the bridge at Kampung Muhibbah, which is currently inundated.

The Wildlife Department also set up traps at the site after finding no signs of crocodile presence during the operation.

The area is reportedly near Tanjung Bulat, known as the habitat of a crocodile nicknamed “Black.”
