Authorities Rescue Cat Who Was Abused & Branded With Gang Tattoos By Mexican Criminal Group

The local police recently rescued an abused sphynx cat during a raid at the Cereso 3 prison in Cludad Juárez, Mexico. The cat, who is approximately a year old was believed to have suffered mistreatment at the hands of a criminal gang while in the prison.

As reported by ABC, the sphynx cat, a breed of feline known for its furless body was abused by the criminal gang, including being branded with gang tattoos. One of the tattoos was of the phrase “Made in Mexico”, a common tattoo used by a Mexican street gang allied with the Sinaloa Cartel.

The cat, which does not yet have a name, is now up for adoption as authorities are looking for a suitable family to take it in. The cat previously spent weeks recovering with care workers and is not for sale.

Ciudad Juárez’s ecology director, Cesar Rene Diaz asserted,

“The cat is very sociable and is in great shape, with no infections,”

The final decision on the family which will adopt the rescued sphynx cat will be made by a committee of city authorities. Furthermore, the cat will be presented to its new family in a ceremony on 1 March 2023.

Let’s hope that the abused cat would be well-taken care of by its new family!
