A father was devastated to discover bruises on his autistic son's back after bringing him home from nursery, only to later learn that authorities had decided not to pursue the case due to a lack of evidence. The incident has left the family heartbroken.
Nazmi Zulkifli took to social media to share his frustration after finding bruises on his eldest child's, namely Ayden bin Nazmi, body while preparing him for a bath. His son is a non-verbal autistic child who struggles to communicate and could not explain what had happened. Concerned, Nazmi and his wife immediately sought medical attention.
That night, they took him to the Main Clinic in Section 7, where a doctor suspected the bruises were caused by physical abuse. Attempting to get more information, they tried to contact his teacher but were unsuccessful. Another teacher eventually responded and promised to look into the matter the next day.
The following morning, on January 16, 2025, Nazmi's wife took the son to see a specialist at Shah Alam Hospital. Before the visit, she managed to reach the teacher, who claimed Ayden may have fallen while playing on the slide. However, after being examined by five specialists, the doctors unanimously agreed that his injuries were the result of being beaten, not an accident. Acting on the doctors' advice, Nazmi’s wife immediately filed a police report.
Hoping for justice, the family refrained from speaking publicly about the incident while the case was under police investigation. However, a month later, they were devastated to learn that the case had been classified as No Further Action (NFA), meaning no charges would be pursued.
Nazmi expressed his disappointment, stating that despite the clear medical evidence of abuse, no teacher at the nursery admitted to witnessing anything unusual. Making matters worse, the CCTV camera in Ayden’s classroom was reportedly not functioning at the time, and the claim that he fell on the slide was contradicted by other CCTV footage, which showed no such incident occurring. Despite this, no teachers were remanded for questioning, and the investigation was closed due to a lack of concrete evidence.
The family is deeply troubled by the outcome, questioning how cases involving vulnerable children can be dismissed so easily. They fear that without CCTV footage, perpetrators can escape accountability, leaving parents helpless when their children suffer abuse.
