More often than not, auxiliary policemen would be asked to be on duty to help keep an eye on certain premises, while also assisting members of the public as and when they require any help.
However, that was not the case for one local housewife, after she reported that an auxiliary policeman who allegedly helped her husband withdraw money from an ATM has instead stolen money from him.
Auxiliary policeman steals RM1,000 while helping man use ATM machine
As reported by local newspaper Oriental Daily, the incident occurred on February 22nd, 2023 at around 9.00am in the morning. At the time, the woman had asked her husband to head to the nearest ATM to withdraw RM200.
Her husband then made his way to the ATM but unfortunately, he wasn’t familiar with its functions and had trouble trying to make a withdrawal without assistance.

He then decided to ask an auxiliary policeman stationed near the ATM machine for help, but it appears that the ‘help’ he received in turn was far from sincere.
At approximately 10.00am on the same day, the couple’s son decided to check their balance online and the woman found out that her account was short of RM1,000. Shocked that the sum had gone missing, she quickly made her way to her bank to check her statements.
Deciding to review the CCTV footage from over the ATM machines, the family then only came to discover that asides from the RM200 withdrawal, the auxiliary police man had allegedly made another separate withdrawal of RM1,000 from the account without her husband’s knowledge.
Realising the theft, the woman promptly lodged a police report over the matter and the suspect was detained by local authorities sometime around noon.

Following that, police have confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing, and that the suspect has been remanded for three days.
