During walkabouts with my wife, Zarina at The Campus Ampang KL Shopping Mall premises, we spotted a huge poster advertising the upcoming epic science fiction film titled ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ (Avatar 3) directed by James Cameron. It signifies a darker exploration of humanity's destruction cycles, focusing on themes of hate, trauma, and revenge, contrasting fiery conflict with the lingering grief (ash) that fuels further violence, while introducing the volcanic Navi's (M'ekang) & airborne Windtraders to represent extremes, all reflecting real-world issues of greed and environmental destruction through Pandora's lens. During an on-line media conference with reporters, Director James Cameron, revealed that “This highly anticipated film ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ deals with a deeply personal journey about family and conflict. I have chosen to tell a story because I have a family. I have five children. I'm just going to put all that on Pandora. I'm going to put it in this fantastic realm, because I believe that anywhere around the world, people will be able to relate to those issues & those conflicts and those characters. This is the third installment of the blockbuster franchise, following 2009's 'Avatar' & 2022's 'Avatar: The Way of Water." (www.koreatimes.co.kr)

Director Cameron further highlighted that “The third film is not just another chapter of the franchise. It completes the whole story as we see the family in jeopardy and all the characters being challenged and with more hardship, more pain, more heartbreak than we've ever seen before in one of these films.”

My grandchildren were excited to watch this film at The Campus Cinema, when I told them that Director Cameron is known for pioneering film technology. Evidently, 3,000 people worked for 4 years, with 3,500 visual effects (VFX) shots. Cameron said his goal was to create something that looks real yet feels distinct from both live-action and traditional animated movies. ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ introduces new societies on Planet Pandora, specifically Ash People.
