
- The average price of a litre of diesel in the UK has passed £2 for the first time, reaching a record high of 200.01p.
- Filling an average family diesel car now costs £110, an increase of nearly £32 since the start of the Middle East conflict.
- Petrol prices have also climbed to an average of 174.71p per litre, taking the average cost of a full tank to £96.
- The RAC warned that a driver covering 10,000 miles a year in an average diesel car will now spend £2,020 annually on fuel.
- The motoring organisation called on the government to offer support by reducing VAT or lowering fuel duty in the upcoming October budget.
