TENOM: Tenom will get a dedicated avocado processing centre to boost local farmers’ income by adding value to produce and addressing low prices faced by kampung varieties compared to premium QAV1.
The facility will also process lower-grade fruit unsuitable for fresh markets while encouraging farmers to adopt QAV1 grafting and expand production to meet demand.
At the same time, the ministry will develop Tenom’s inland fisheries with the district’s first fish landing jetty along Sungai Padas and Sungai Pegalan to improve safety, hygiene, marketing, and access for freshwater fish, while supporting sustainable fishing activities.
