Ayala: $6.9B in sustainable financing secured last year

AYALA Corp. on Thursday said that it secured approximately $6.9 billion in sustainable financing last year as it announced its continued inclusion in the global sustainability benchmark FTSE4Good Index Series for a 12th straight year.

In a statement, the conglomerate said the continued inclusion reinforced the Ayala Group’s standing in a global benchmark followed by investors and other stakeholders.

Core businesses ACEN Corp., Ayala Land Inc., Bank of the Philippine Islands and Globe Telecom Inc. also remained constituents of the index following a June 2026 review.

Ayala Corp., Ayala Land and BPI have been part of the index since 2015, Globe since 2016 and ACEN since 2023.

"Our continued inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series affirms our belief that one does well by doing good," Ayala President and CEO Cezar Consing said.

"Our mantra must always be building businesses that support communities and enhance lives," he added.

The conglomerate said its sustainability practices and environmental, social and governance (ESG)-aligned portfolio helped broaden access to sustainable financing from global investors.

In May, Ayala had signed a $100-million sustainability-linked facility with DBS Bank Ltd., its first Singapore dollar-denominated hedged loan facility.

Paolo Borromeo, Ayala's chief social infrastructure officer, said the group’s continued inclusion in the index provided investors and business partners with a common reference point for how Ayala puts sustainability into practice.

"As we align our work in health, education, community development, and sustainability under social infrastructure, benchmarks such as this help reinforce our belief in the elements that are needed to deliver progress that is measurable and lasting," he added.

FTSE4Good, created by global index and data provider FTSE Russell, measures the performance of companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices in areas such as corporate governance, health and safety, anti-corruption and climate change.

The indexes are used by investors to develop and assess responsible investment funds and other investment products.

The conglomerate reiterated it would pursue long-term growth across its businesses and other ventures while supporting national development.

Ayala shares rose P3.00 or 0.62 percent, to close at P490.00 each on Thursday amid a 0.24-percent uptick for the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index.
