Ayer Kuning By-Election: SK Toh Tandewa Sakti becomes first polling centre to close

SEKOLAH Kebangsaan (SK) Toh Tandewa Sakti in Tapah was the first polling centre to close during the Ayer Kuning state by-election, shutting its gates precisely at 4 pm after operating since 8 am.

The centre, which had only one polling stream and 378 registered voters, was one of 19 polling centres open for the by-election.

A visit to the location by Astro AWANI around 3.45 pm found the area already quiet as voting wound down.

Despite the late hour, three voters, including a husband and wife, arrived just in time to fulfil their civic duty before the centre officially closed.

One of them, Poon Tuck Chee, 49, said he was delayed due to family matters.

“I left Ipoh at 3.05 pm because I had to settle things with the kids. The roads weren’t congested, and we arrived before the gates closed. I feel relieved to have voted,” he said, accompanied by his wife, Lim Yoke Yin, also 49, when met outside the school grounds. - April 26, 2025
