Johor voters urged to pick candidates ensuring smooth government ties for efficient public service delivery, says Azalina.

PUTRAJAYA: Voters in the Johor state election have been urged to choose candidates who can ensure continuity with the state government to facilitate the smooth and effective delivery of public services.

UMNO information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said while every political party has the constitutional right to field candidates, voters should make their choice with the state’s administrative interests in mind.

She said Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates were better placed to serve the people of Johor, given that the state is governed by BN.

“I would like to remind Johor voters that voting for BN candidates offers an advantage at the state level because this is a state election, not a federal election.

“If we look at the current situation, village heads, village development committees and others require a very close working relationship with the state government. I hope voters will exercise their wisdom in choosing the party and candidates who can ensure continuity with the state administration,” she said.

Azalina, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), said this after officiating the Insolvency Second Chance Policy Roadshow Carnival 2026 here today.

The Johor State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 1, with the Election Commission (EC) setting tomorrow as nomination day, July 7 for early voting day, and July 11 as polling day.
